Examples of Past Custom Engagements

School Turnaround Leaders in Connecticut

Developed for leaders in turnaround schools, this program gathered principals from six district in Connecticut for three days of collaborative learning. Joined by six Harvard faculty, participants engaged in sessions focused on essential elements of turnaround, including instructional leadership, strategy development, mental health, and more.

School Leadership in Cincinatti

In October 2024, a team of five HGSE faculty traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio to engage their school principals in a three-day leadership development program. The program was designed to address specific topics of concern in the District, and provided opportunities for leaders across the district schools to collaborate, share best practices, and established common frameworks for improving teaching and learning in their schools.

Building Schools for the 21st Century: Leadership Development for Qatar’s School Leaders

Developed for the Ministry of Education & Higher Education in Qatar in collaboration with the Qatar Leadership Centre, the program included HGSE faculty presenting on-site in Doha, as well as program participants visiting Harvard’s campus to observe local schools while engaging with topics such as strategic leadership, mental health in schools, family

The Principals’ Centre

Since 2020, The Principals’ Centre in Australia has designed and provided leaders in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia with the knowledge, leadership strategies, and tools to become effective leaders of instructional change and accelerate learning for all students. Hosted in Sydney and designed for region-speci ic learning needs, the program brings together school leaders and Harvard faculty in collaboration with the Harvard Club of Australia.

School Leaders in the Middle East: Empowering Kuwait and Beyond

Offered in collaboration with the American Creative Academy of Kuwait, School Leaders in the Middle East: Empowering Kuwait and Beyond hosted school leaders from across Kuwait to learn how to transform their school’s learning culture. The program provided participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively lead instructional change and accelerate learning in their schools

Leading for Inclusive Education in Sweden

For over 10 years, HGSE collaborated with Sweden’s Department of Education to bring nearly 225 educators to Cambridge with the goal of expanding inclusion efforts in Sweden’s schools. The program on Harvard’s campus included visits to Boston area schools as well as presentations and workshops on leadership frameworks, inclusive practices, and action planning.
